The end of innocence

We are expecting a new baby in about 5 weeks, a little sister. Zander is excited. He's old enough to understand that the baby is in mommy's belly and will come out eventually, when she is big enough. We talk about the different things we will each have to do after she is born to take care of her. Although he is sanguine about the whole thing, we are under no illusion that there will be jealousy and tears at some point. After all, Z is a momma's boy and momma's gonna have a new baby to nurse.

His older cousin Tessa, whom he sees weekly and is very close to, had a talk with him this week. Being the oldest of her generation, she's been around this block more than once and feels bad for him. And recognizes that he has no idea. At least they will have each other, eh?

Meanwhile, Zander and Uly conspire to make me crazy. And I don't just mean crazy. I mean 8-months-pregnant crazy. It's not a pretty sight.

"Who me?"

"She can't possibly mean me."

I'm embarassingly well out of it. I had no idea you were preggers. Glutten for punishment obviously. Congrats.

Andrew is a nice name for a girl.

Shockingly few people were so bold as to recommend their own names for the baby - but you were the only guy. Thanks, Tibbsy!
